I loved the first book and I jumped at the chance to review the second. This is a great teen/young adult book of sorcery. There is magic, strange creatures, action, adventure, objects of power, spells, wizards, good vs evil, and more. I love the way this author writes, not just this series.
The narrator did a fantastic job at expressing emotions, the creepy bug voices, and keeping the book flowing smoothly.

The Sorcerer Torment Book 2 of The Sorcerer Path edition by Brock Deskins Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I just started getting into reading fantasy. I'm so glad I found this series, it has great character development and many twist and turns to keep you turning the pages. I can't wait to start the next one.
Book 2 was a fun read with errors throughout. It was fast paced and enjoyable to read with twists and turns in the plot. The characters are well thought out and have developed well.
This book was great! I had som harsh criticism in my review of the first book in this series, but in this second book the author has allayed most of those criticisms in a satisfying way.

One of my biggest issues with the first book was the inclusion of the adventuring band Maude's Marauders which I felt added nothing to the story but some, not really needed, comic relief. In a great move the author has cut their part out of the main story, and instead included their story as a bonus in the end for those readers that would like to read it. This made the book feel more of a whole story without any weird interludes.

The story focuses mainly on Azerick who must (again) go trough some grueling trials, and he evolves satisfyingly throughout the story. There are a few chapters involving General Baneford and his hunt for the missing pieces of the ancient armor, but these are short and are used to show that there is an overarching plot even though Azerick is not directly involved with it yet. We also get some scenes with Lady Miranda of Stone Haven who quicly meets up with Azerick. I especially liked the dialogue between Azerick and Lady Miranda's guard captain, and thought it was quite funny.

I really like that the story is tightly focused on Azerick's story, and is not like almost every other fantasy out there focused on som big bad guy who's out to destroy the world or something like that. I have no doubt that Azerick will get involved in the bigger struggle, but as of yet I at least am very happy with just his story.

I would also like to note that the editing errors were alot fewer than in the previous book, and it read much more smoothly because of it.

Some criticisms; the parallel between the authors world and the Forgotten Realms is very easy to spot for someone well read in the field. The telepath slave masters are basically Mind Flayers with a twist. They are well written though and the similarity is easy to overlook.

What I find more jarring though is the sometimes omniscient 3rd person narrator. This is not prevalent at all, but sometimes the narration changes for a few lines to a person next to the main focus revealing their thoughts when this could be just as easily achieved with facial expressions and body language. I like the narrative to be tightly focused on the object (in most cases Azerick) so we may learn how the objects interpret the people they are with and not have the narrator tell us (show don't tell).

The last thing, and this is a problem in most fantasies, is that everyone seems to be able to read people's minds after one look in their eyes. It may just be me, but I sure can't tell if anyone is hiding a wealth of pain and suffering behind their eyes (unless I've known them a long long time).

Ok, this has become way too long. I would like to finish by saying that this novel is a much better novel than the previous one, and that I am eagerly awaiting the next!
a darned fine book! i read lots of books (really, i do...20 or so a month), and this one had a great storyline and characters. you should read it too. after the first one in the series, i bought all three and read them in three days. standard "boy gets screwed over and finds he has magical powers" storyline, but really, it's written well and has lots of twists and turns that keep you going. innovative ideas about magic and why dwarves are so damned grumpy, and an elf that manages to cast spells while seemingly being incredibly stoned on life itself is an added bonus and very humorous. have a great day and a better tomorrow. (oh, and read the book, too. it's well worth your money)
Again an excellent second book.
Azerick returns. After the defeat of Travis and heading off ...Our dauntless hero and some old friends of his father are captured by slavers.
Most notably mind reapers who control our hero into fighting in the arena.
If that isn't bad enough they are holding his new love and their unborn child hostage.
After living up to his name of the hand of vengeance he and company escape.
fight many other creatures and men.
Rescue the beautiful miranda and try to get on with life.
this book was great I read it in about four hours and am starting on the next .
You Rock keep it up the hero is believable and enjoyable!!!
4.5 stars if the next book is this good it will be 5 stars!!!!
which is fairly rare for me to give...
Hurray, if you are looking for a really long series, where the first book is great and the 4th (I'm up to 4) is just as good, you've found it here.

I've found this series amazing. The Author has a wonderful imagination and keeps adding new characters/creatures/enemies/beings/etc. It just doesn't get stale. This is great escapist fun reading. Once you read this first book you should be hooked. It will not disappoint.

Many times the first book is great and than each following book get's old, or stops moving. I was a fan of the game of thrones series and than the last two books proceeded at such a snails pace, I vowed never to read another book by Martin. I have read other series by less known authors and the books keep getting boring as everything is regurgitated.

On the other hand, this book is continually action packed and metamorphing

This is light reading, just pleasant fantasy trash.!!!

This series is a perfect example of the digital revolution of books. In the past, due to the cost of publishing a book it might not have made it to the stores. publishes it in . A few read it and rate it highly, than with s knowledge of my tastes it shows up as a likely read. I see the ratings I tried it an love it and put up a 5 star rating.

It will be interesting to see if when a book has success in will it eventually go mainstream and be published through regular channels.
