Daaaaamn. Not only a great plot and lots of cool developments, but the EMOTIONS. I had a feeling...but daaaamn. Damn.

Missed Quinn but liked the story just the same. Character is growing up so she needs space to do that. Looking forward to reading the end the the stroy,
I was crazy about this series and hated to say goodbye to a favorite character. Riley was all a female lead should be - tough, tender, mean, protective, smart and beautiful. What I liked was that it was set in Australia. It had a neighborhood and family on top of the intrigue. I didn't recommend this to my more conservative sister at first (werewolf freedom ala sex) but she skips all the juicy details in all books. She enjoyed it just the same. Hard to believe!
I loved this series since the first installment. It's true that this book doesn't have the "heat" of some of the previous books. Here we see Riley starting to develop more as a character who isn't a complete prisoner to her hormones.

Hopefully, Riley will have someone new come into her life. Quinn has his own issues, and can't accept her for herself. As for breaking off her relationship with Kellem, it was no great loss. His character always seemed a little flat to me.

Ms. Arthur has a good imagination so hopefully she will surprise us all in the next book.Embraced By Darkness (Riley Jensen, Guardian, Book 5)
This is a good addition to the series, with a better plot than the last book. The pacing was slow in some spots, but overall it was good. The author showed us a different side of Riley this time - more settled down and contemplative about her life and what she ultimately wants. The tension between the characters was great, and the relationship issues were realistic, but I missed Quinn (regardless of his faults). I enjoyed seeing both Riley and Rhoan "get even" with their hateful ex-packmates in such a classy way (although I doubt their worries are over in that regard). Overall, a good read. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This book was alot of fun, but it had a bittersweet ending. I love how there is more than one plot going on at once in these books in this series, especially the last few. I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. If you like this genre and the previous books in the series, you must read this one. I don't think you'll regret it. I appreciate now that there are common themes running through all the books. It took until now for me to be sure that they were actually there on purpose. I can't wait to finish the next book, which I already started at the time I'm typing this because I couldn't write the review directly after reading it. I say have at it because the book is great!
